Contact Us Today About Installing Your New Prefabricated Fireplace

Prefabricated fireplaces are systems that are manufactured off-site, then installed inside of your home. Rather than a masonry system that is built brick-by-brick in your space, these are a series of components that are assembled, then simply placed where you would prefer it inside of your living space.

The Pros of Prefabricated Fireplaces

  • They’re cheaper & quicker to install. Compared to having a masonry fireplace built into your home, prefabs are far more affordable – and they typically don’t take more than a few days to install.
  • They’re not permanent. Some homeowners know for sure that they want a permanent fireplace system built into their home. Others don’t want to make that big of a commitment. If you’re in the latter group, prefab systems last anywhere from one to two decades, and aren’t permanent fixtures.
  • They’re very efficient & offer great heat. Typically, prefab units offer more heat than a masonry chimney because they’re so well insulated. Also, many come with blowers that help that heat better circulate throughout your space.
  • They are more flexible in terms of placement. With masonry setups, you’re usually limited as to where it needs to be placed. Prefab units aren’t as large or bulky and can be constructed in a range of areas and rooms.
  • They come in a variety of styles, sizes, and fuel types. Worried about finding a system that meets your tastes and preferences? With prefab units, this is never a concern – we’re certain you’ll be able to find something you love.

What Are the Downsides?

Nothing is 100% perfect, and here at West Tennessee Chimneys we’re not about glossing over the facts about the products we sell. In the end, we always want you to be happy with your final setup, and that means figuring out which system is the most suitable for your household.

Here are some reasons a prefab unit might not be the right fit:

They don’t offer that classic, masonry look. Since prefabricated fireplaces are built from factory-built materials, they won’t come with that traditional brick and mortar setup.

They won’t last you a lifetime. If you know for sure that you want a fireplace in your home for the long haul, you might not want a prefab unit. They can last anywhere from 10 – 30 years, which is a long time – but not nearly as long as a masonry system that lasts for decades upon decades.

They won’t do as much for upping your home’s value. Since prefab units don’t last as long as a custom-built masonry system, they aren’t likely to boost your home value as much. Especially if you end up selling near the end of its lifespan.
